The Star-Spangled Banner

Today, America’s national anthem is one of the most recognized songs in the country and is often sung at major events and holidays.

Written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812 after witnessing the Battle of Baltimore, the poem was originally titled “The Defence of Fort McHenry.”

Its message of perseverance, faith, and national identity continues to resonate today.
