Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday Mass The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Mark
Today we begin Holy Week, the most sacred days of the Church year.
At the start of Mass, we bless and carry palms in memory of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Then, in the ancient tradition of the Church, we proclaim the full Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Mark. We hear how Jesus was betrayed, condemned, mocked, crucified, and died for the salvation of the world.
It is a long and solemn reading, and that is by design. The Church asks us to stand with Christ from the beginning to the end.
Whether you are joining us in the Cathedral or watching from home, you are welcome to participate fully. If you have your palms, hold them. Pray along. Listen carefully to every word.
Holy Week has begun. Let us walk it together.
