Fourth Sunday of Advent

Dec 21, 2025

As Advent draws to a close, the Gospel turns our attention to Saint Joseph, a man of quiet faith and deep trust in God’s plan. In Matthew 1:18–24, Joseph learns that Mary is with child through the Holy Spirit, and though confused and afraid, he listens to the voice of God.

The angel reassures him: “Do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.” In his obedience, Joseph becomes the guardian of the Holy Family and a powerful witness to faith lived in action. He names the child Jesus, meaning “God saves,” and through Him the promise is fulfilled—Emmanuel, God with us.

This final Sunday of Advent invites us to trust even when the path ahead is unclear. Like Joseph, we are called to respond with courage, humility, and faith.

As we prepare our homes for Christmas, may we also prepare our hearts to welcome Christ, who comes to dwell among us and bring light into the world.
