Second Sunday of Advent

Dec 7, 2025

In this Sunday’s Gospel, we meet John the Baptist, the voice crying out in the desert: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” (Matthew 3:1–12). John’s message is bold and urgent, he calls the people to turn away from sin and prepare their hearts for the coming of Christ.

Advent is our time to do the same. Amid the noise and busyness of the season, God calls each of us to pause, reflect, and make room for His Son. Conversion isn’t only about change, it’s about renewal, a fresh beginning rooted in grace.

John reminds us that authentic faith bears fruit. As we light the second candle on the Advent wreath, may it symbolize our growing readiness to welcome Jesus, not only into our homes at Christmas, but into the very center of our lives.
