Solemnity of the Baptism of Our Lord
In today’s Gospel, Jesus comes to the Jordan to be baptized by John, not because He needs repentance, but to fully enter into our human experience. As He rises from the water, the heavens open, the Spirit descends like a dove, and the voice of the Father is heard saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
The Baptism of the Lord reveals Jesus as the Son of God and marks the beginning of His public ministry. It also reminds us of our own baptism, when we were claimed as God’s children and called to live in faith. As we celebrate this solemn feast, may we renew our commitment to follow Christ, listening to the Father’s voice and walking in the light of the Spirit each day.
