Solemnity of Brotherly Love

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the Good Samaritan in response to the question, “Who is my neighbor?” A man beaten by robbers is ignored by a priest and a Levite, but cared for with compassion by a Samaritan, an outsider.

Through this story, Jesus teaches that true love of God is shown in mercy toward others. To inherit eternal life, we must love God fully and extend that love to our neighbor, no matter who they are.
