Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
As we journey through the liturgical season of Ordinary Time, the 14th Sunday reminds us of the gentle and humble heart of Christ. In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. It’s a powerful reminder that our strength and peace are found not in the world’s pace, but in the quiet presence of our Savior.
In this Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 10:1–12, 17–20), Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples, urging them to proclaim that “the kingdom of God is at hand.” As they go in simplicity and faith, they experience the power of Christ’s name and return rejoicing.
This passage reminds us that we, too, are called to be laborers in the harvest—spreading peace, healing, and the good news of salvation.
Christ sends us not with fear, but with authority and purpose. Let us rejoice, not in earthly success, but in the promise that our names are written in heaven.
